The following are some basic terms of our rental policies along with answers to frequently asked questions.

Q: How long do I have to rent?
A: Our rentals are month to month. You keep the space as long as you like.

Q: When is my rent due?
A: We pro-rate your rent from the day you rent the unit to the first of the month. The rent is then due on the first of each subsequent month.

Q: Are my belongings insured?
A: We do not insure you for loss from any peril. This includes fire, theft, flood and wind damage due to tornado or hurricanes. Your home owners policy may insure your items, check with your agent. Insurance is available through MINICO at an additional cost. We can provide you with information and a brochure in order to contact them.

Q: What are the hours we can access our items?
A: Our access hours are from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 365 days per year. You may enter your space as many times as you like during business hours.

Q: Do I really need air conditioned space?
A: It really depends on the time of year and the particular items you will be storing. If during the cooler months and only for a short period of time climate or air-conditioned space may not be needed. During our Florida long and hot summer months it can certainly be worth the added cost. Mold and mildew grows quickly this time of year and can especially affect leather and suede goods. VHS tapes digital storage devices, photo albums, record albums, rubber, vinyl and plastic materials all can lose their stability and integrity after prolonged exposure to heat.

Q: What type of items am I allowed to store?
A: Just about anything you find in a house or business. Exceptions are: No storage of explosive, toxic, illegal or hazardous materials is allowed. No welding or painting is allowed inside the space. Some of our spaces are equipped with electric. This is to provide you with just enough power for hobby projects. No commercial type work is allowed and no type of automotive or mechanical work is allowed.

Q: What type of lock should I use on the door?
A: We pride ourselves in that we do not have a problem with unit break-ins. One reason is that when you rent the space part of the administration fee buys you a disc lock. This is a specially designed lock that self-storage operators prefer. The lock is cylindrical and fits snuggly on the door slide. This prevents bolt cutters from cutting the hasp.

Q: Is there really a difference storing with Bay Mini Storage as opposed to anyone else?
